– Lipanda Manifesto – An Open Letter from 343 people of colour

On 25 March 2019, in the framework of the festival Les Dionysies at the Sorbonne University,  anti-racist activists prevented a play called Les Suppliantes, directed by Philippe Brunet, from occurring because of the use of a blackface. On stage, white actresses were interpreting the Danaides with black make-up and copper masks on to perform the role Egyptian choir.
